Is this a good thing, or a something other than good thing?
Hi everyone. Been lurking here for a minute, I’m a complete beginner. Slowly trying to figure out some of the key stuff.
I’m the founder of a website which offers online courses in a pretty specialized area. Starting offering courses at the beginning of the year, and I’ve done ok. Over 100 people signed up and paid for a course, so not bad.
I’m aware that most people find my work through podcasts I’ve been on, and through other organizations that discuss my work. But I have just now been able to take a look at google search console for my site and it appears that one whole person in the last 6 months found my site through a google search, and that was from searching for the very specific name of the site.
So, I guess I’m not surprised but my question is – in theory, that’s a good thing, right? I’m starting from a baseline of zero, so if I can optimize SEO to a reasonable degree I’m going to be able, hopefully, to pull in a completely new audience (i.e. not folks who have heard of me through something other than a generic search)?
This might be a dumb question, but I don’t have the skills to know if it’s dumb or not. Thanks 🙂
