  • Is content collab a thing??

Hi community, I have a very peculiar question regarding my content-creating “career” and I’m hoping to get some help… a bit embarrassing but am trying this ‘ask for help thing

So I’ve been trying to build up my socials, IG Tiktok and I used to post on Youtube but bc they take too long, I can’t afford the time to do so.

I know my content is working and I know I have the ideas and drive but the problem is I’m working 4 days a week and having my own side hustle. I know that to get to the next level I need to post at least 4-5 times a week (I’m on 1 per week atm) but with everything going on it’s difficult to do everything by myself.

I wish I have the money to hire someone but it’s unrealistic at this point. The only solution I could think of is to get an intern. Or look for A collaborator who genuinely enjoys filming, editing and wants someone to be their subject/ muse? Or I heard about creative agencies, but Idk if I would need to do jobs for them.

Anyone has experienced or going through anything similar? and also if there is any platform that would facilitate meeting people like the ones I have mentioned?

Appreciate any help I could get, thank you!

Content collab is definitely a thing. However, it’s not what you’re describing. For a collab to work, the recipient needs to get an equal value in putting time into a project.

You need to describe why someone would want to work with you. Monetary reasons rise to the top, but you can also collab by connecting accounts to share a relevant audience.

At the end of the day, it sounds like you need to put in the work to get the results.

With what your describing, I don’t think anyone’s gonna be willing to grow your channel when they can just grow their own. You need to offer something extra to the relationship to make it sustainable

Content collab is truly a wonderful thing for whether a company account or a personal one. Generally it has 2 types to work with, one is to utilize others’ fanbase to expand your audience pool, the other is to acquire their contents which you considered great for your channel/account. Based on your descr., the second type fits you. And you would either need to get a paid collab or a barter deal with them.

Please don’t get an intern. What you’re describing is unpaid labor, not an internship. If someone wants to do work for free (or below minium wage) then that’s their choice (though local laws may apply), but better to be honest about what it is.

I think what you might be interested in is looking for content swaps/partnerships. You take over someone else’s channel for a week (and promote yours) and they do the same. Or you make cross over content that you both share versions of on your own channels. You get some of their fan base and vise versa.

You can also think about whether there are more efficient ways to make content about the same subject. Make a few low efforts to keep current followers happy, while you work on a monthly high effort more viral piece.

Sorry that none of that is easy answers. It’s a tough game. (Disclosure: My own social channels are pretty lame. I work professionally with big channels so might not be the best person to give advice for your situation.)

Yes, collabs are a great way to expand your audience reach. Spend some time getting to know the right people to collab with.

However as the other answers mentioned, what you have talked about isn’t really collabing. You both would need to spend time creating content that you can share. So you wouldn’t save time, which I’m guessing is what you need right now.

Or maybe there is someone that wants to try out their skills and learn more about Insta and TikTok and would be willing to work with you. Maybe something like an intern or a newbie trying to hone their skills?! Of course, that might not be what you want 🙂

Uh also wanted to mention that Insta had a collab function ( Instagram Collabs) where you can invite a person to collaborate on a reel or a post.
