Installing tracking across sub-domains – best practice?

    Hi all,

I have a quick question for you all. Started a new job recently and will need to bring them into the 21st century in regards to digital activities. However they obviously have their main domain but they also have several sub-domains and these are where the bulk of any converting actions will take place. I wonder what exactly is best practice in this situation, should I install the same meta pixel across all domains as well as LinkedIn Insight Tag and Google Ads retargeting etc. Or should these be seperate tags / entities for each sub-domain?

This sort of complex web creation is new to me and spreading various entities across so many domains.

You should be able to host all of your Google Data within one Tag Manager account. That should take you through setting up your analytics & remarketing tags. Would also recommend setting up Campaign Manager 360 w/ Floodlights specific to each sub domain so you can more easily segment those for reporting.

Having one Meta Pixel may get tricky depending on how many conversion actions you want to track within their limit. Might be best to break those out into their own separate entities for each domain so you can take full advantage.

LinkedIn only allows one insight tag per ad account to be connected IIRC, but you can use multiple tags across each sub-domain if needed.
