Image Dimensions – really confused
Can someone explain to me how image dimensions work on social media platforms? In particular, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
I get the basic sizes for Instagram and Facebook, e.g. 1080×1080 px for a square Instagram image and 1200×627 (or 1200 x 630 according to some sources).
Twitter confuses me a lot. I see some sources saying 1600×900 px is the ideal size for an in-stream image, some say 1200×675 px and others say 1024×512.
Also, what’s the point of all this if the platforms resize the image when they’re uploaded anyway? For example, one recommended image size for Facebook is 1200×630, but according to Hootsuite, Facebook resizes images to be 500 px wide when they’re uploaded.
