I wrote “adn” instead of “and” on a social post and my coworker sent it to my boss instead of me. I’m constantly begging them for time to work on social but they don’t care.
I make typos like this when rushed. I’ve told them I need to block time for social media but my boss is constantly adding other unrelated tasks like web stories, so good strategic planning never gets done. I’m always posting off the cuff (last minute requests from my boss) and postponing planning because there just isn’t time. My work takes forever to be handed in because my tasks are constantly being reprioritized. I like all the aspects of my job but if social media results are important then hello, I need time to work on it.
I work at a school board, so I understand why typos are unacceptable. But with a lack of time to plan and execute, mistakes are bound to happen.
What would you do in this situation?
__The situation:__
We have a new temporary coworker that’s working on our website redesign. She’s working closely with our web manager/graphic designer. She found a small typo (adn instead of and) in my social post and asked him about it. He referred her to our department’s boss… not really sure why. Our boss obviously referred her back to me to fix it.
I’m embarrassed of the typo and i’m more than happy to correct it, which would have been done hours ago had they not gone through this weird cycle.
I gently told her to send any social media changes my way from now on.
