I spent years building up brands on Instagram and neglected my own.. now I decided to create my own agency and have such a small following while actively trying to promote my services
Has anyone else experienced this? I have 9+ years in marketing and 7+ in social media marketing. I’m confident in my work and my ability to achieve great results for clients. The thing is, I love doing social media for work but I don’t really enjoy it for personal use. I was also working for companies at the time so I wasn’t worrying about promoting my own brand.
Long story short, the company I worked for closed abruptly and from one day to the next, I no longer had a job. I applied to a bunch of jobs but then thought to myself, I have the tools and experience to do this on my own, so why not? That was about a month and a half ago, and that’s when I opened the Instagram account for my new agency. So basically, I’m reaching out to potential clients and offering social media marketing services while having a tiny following. It feels embarrassing.
I will say, it is definitely growing but it just doesn’t happen overnight. This past week I had a +3,235% in reach. I also have testimonials, lots of work samples, lots of examples of great results, etc. The Instagram following is really the only thing I feel is hurting my credibility.
Anyway, all that to ask, has anyone else experienced this and how did you handle it?
