I got pitched a Google Search Prediction position 1 service…

Posted by guy_on_couch_ on March 17, 2023 at 6:09 pm

I recently had a marketing email land in my inbox for a service that is able to achieve position one (search prediction dropdown menu) for specific keyword searches…

**How is this possible?** What the hell is going on here? It only works if the user has no previous search history for the specific keyword.

    Example:

Search is: “Carpet Installation NYC” – don’t hit enter or search yet.

    Search suggestion drop down results:

carpet installation NYC – BUSINESS NAME
    carpet installation NYC
    carpet installation NYC cost
    carpet installation NYC prices
    carpet installation NYC etc etc…

They also state they need 30-90 days to make this happen.

It doesn’t populate as a suggestion until you’ve completely typed out the term, so most likely there’s a split second that someone actually sees the business name before they would hit enter for their search and would negate any real use.

If you do click on the suggested search, it will take you to a page that looks like it’s a pure search for the business’s name and not the service.

You’re gonna have to provide more details.

Is this for paid search, or organic?

That is interesting, I would agree with the other post they must be using bots to make those searches since the auto suggest is based on the top searched phrases related to the main one being typed in.

This seems like it would be good initially but they would need to have those bots running constantly to keep your name among the top, I would guess they get it to the top then stop the bots, this will most likely be short lived anyway as Google will most likely fix this and they would need to continue finding workarounds.
