I am an artist, so I make art related content. Made a longer IG video yesterday no text, not even trending audio, it gets NO comments- but it gets 11k views. Only 54 likes usually when I do that well im at 150ish

I made a shorter video, with text, trending audio, and it blows up in engagement, I have 14 comments in about 20 min from my audience. 12 hours later…it has 150 views. Dead.

Ok so what happened? Does that mean comments don’t mean shit? Longer video is better? My audience doesn’t know what it wants? I’m trying to get consistent but I can’t figure it out.

It’s the watch time factor! The first reel surely didn’t get that engagement, but the watch time of it should be longer and that’s the reason why Instagram kept pushing it.

However, engagement does push your content and in the start, maybe you got some good engagement, but after a while, when people stop interacting with it, Instagram just stop the push

This is the prime example of – you shouldn’t depend upon trending audio n all. Surely, it can give you some sort of advantage but there’s no guarantee with it

Well, no one seems to understand how Instagram wroks these days. You post a video without adding anything and it gets thousands of views and you post another video using the same method and it gets nothing. People now find it so hard to gain views on this platform because they can’t follow a method and they can’t also post randomly. I guess it is all about luck. If you are lucky you will gain views and if not you get none. It seems impossible to undertsand Instagram’s algorithm and how to defeat it. I used to struggle with the same thing, I was getting views on some of my videos and none on the others, especially with the low number of followers I had before. So I tried to gain more followers so that at least I will gain a big number of views from my followers and I won’t care if I got none from non followers. I hired an agency called ascend viral to get me these followers organically f course because gaining followers back then seemed very hard for me. I started after that getting more views on all of my posts and even Instagram started pushing my videos to non followers. I understood that Instagram prefers accounts with big number of followers and that thse accounts have a better reach than the other accounts with a small number of followers. So maybe you have to work on that.

I think it’s important to remember that engagement is not the only measure of success. 11k views is a great result, and it’s possible that your audience just wasn’t as interested in the shorter video. It’s also possible that the longer video was seen by more people, and that’s why it got more views. I think the best way to get consistent results is to experiment and track your results. Try to hire a growth agency like ascend viral to get potential audience organically. Also, try different types of content and see what works best for your audience. identifing their interests is very important in increasing the views as they will share your content with their friends. Therefore, you need to get a better understanding of what they like and what resonates with them.
