  • How Would You Advertise/Market a Company With Only $5k?

Posted by LanaDoyle on July 24, 2023 at 6:00 pm

Say you opened a digital services company that helps people and businesses grow their social media accounts, including some via turning followers into leads.

Say you only had $5k to initially advertise it with. How would you do it most effectively, without or in addition to social media? And how would you target local v. nationwide?

Edit: To clarify, we do not yet have a social media account for our business, even though we will obviously soon create one and then deal with content creation for it, which is a whole other ball of wax. In the meantime, I am attempting to study and figure out how to best advertise such a digital service in ways other than social media (in addition to the social media account’s content itself and ads as well, rather). I’m especially curious since reading up on others who failed using advertising plans I thought previously would be great. Obviously, I am new, and I hope I am explaining this well enough.

With a limited budget, you’ll need to be strategic and efficient in your marketing approach. Here are some effective ways that have worked for me when I started my company on a small budget:

    1. Social Media Advertising (Focus on Your Niche):You’ll definitely want to get a jump on creating these accounts… Allocate a significant portion of your budget to targeted social media advertising. Start with platforms like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and twitter (or X lol). Since your company specializes in social media growth, you’ll probably have the best success with showcasing your expertise through your own ads. Create visually appealing and informative ad content that highlights your success stories and the benefits of your services.
    2. Content Marketing (Blogging and SEO):Invest in creating high-quality blog content centered around social media tips, tricks, and success stories. Optimize the content for search engines (SEO) to increase organic traffic to your website. Content marketing is one of the most cost-effective ways to establish authority, build trust, and attract potential customers.
    3. Influencer Marketing:Once you have a small base built up, look into partnering with influencers in your niche who have a substantial following on social media. They can promote your services, which will help you reach a broader audience and gain credibility. Influencer marketing can be especially effective if you target local influencers who can help you tap into specific regions or cities.
    4. Email Marketing:Build an email list of potential clients who have shown interest in your services or have engaged with your content. Offer valuable resources such as e-books, guides, or exclusive tips related to social media growth in exchange for their email addresses. Utilize email marketing to nurture leads, share success stories, and offer discounts or promotions.
    5. Collaborations and Partnerships:Look for opportunities to collaborate with other businesses, especially those that are complementary to your services. For example, you could partner with a web design agency, a content creation company, or a digital marketing agency. Such partnerships can expand your reach and create win-win situations for both parties.
    6. Local Advertising (Offline):While your primary focus is on digital services, don’t overlook the potential in local markets. Invest in low-cost offline advertising such as flyers, posters, and business cards distributed in relevant local venues, community events, or business gatherings.
    7. Attend Industry Events:Participate in industry-related events, workshops, or conferences, both locally and nationwide if possible. Networking at these events can help you establish valuable connections and generate leads.
    8. Referral Program:Implement a referral program that incentivizes your existing clients to refer new customers to your business. Word-of-mouth marketing can be highly effective, especially in the early stages when you’re looking to expand your client base. When targeting local versus nationwide audiences:- Local Targeting: Use local keywords and hashtags in your social media posts and ads. Leverage geotargeting options on platforms like Facebook and Instagram to reach people in specific regions. Collaborate with local influencers and consider investing more in offline advertising in the target cities or areas.- Nationwide Targeting: Utilize broader keywords and hashtags that appeal to a national audience. Focus on influential figures with a wide-reaching audience on social media, and leverage national events or trends to increase visibility.

Remember to continuously analyze and measure the performance of your marketing efforts – what works for someone else, might not work for you, so try everything. Allocate your budget based on what works best for your specific business and adapt your strategies as you gather data and insights on your target audience’s preferences and behaviors and you’ll be golden. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will your company or a following. It takes months if not years, but by leveraging these strategies and sticking to a steady content schedule you’re bound to start having some success.
