  • How to show star ratings in Google?

Posted by seohelper on November 9, 2020 at 7:27 am

When I look up an IGN or GameSpot game review, I see a star rating under the meta description.

My site is not that high of an authority, but I know I can still make this happen.

Basically, my emoji stars are not showing up on Google.

Should I install a plugin or is there another way to make Google recognize my ratings?

Google changed star ratings and how difficult it is to show them. You can add them via Rich Snippets. Your site may not be the kind of site Google will allow to have star ratings. You can do a Google search for more information on star ratings, what you need to include your site and the type of site you need to have to show star ratings. Just know as an FYI that my Google sources have told us that eventually Google will likely remove most if not all types of star ratings on SERPs at some point in the future.

Google no longer allows rich snippets to show star ratings for reviews you collect yourself as a business/organization. If you have products like a GameSpot game review, just setup reviews in properly tagged Schema and eventually they should show in SERPs.

I have my product reviews show start ratings in the serps using schema mark up. The trick is not have everything as 5 stars across your whole site, they won’t show then.
