How to remove spammy leads from Google Ads

Posted by misunknown on February 24, 2023 at 4:45 pm

I decided to try “similar audience” at some point (I know …huge mistake) on a display campaign. It inflated the spend and brought me a tons of spammy leads. I quickly noticed it and removed the audience. However the campaign performance is down now due to the overspent budget. I also suspect that the bunch of spammy leads (it skyrocketed the conversion metrics by like 10 times) now affects overall account performance as Google still try to target similar people as their percentage is high compare to normal leads. So my question is – can I remove/disavow the spammy leads somehow?

There is an option to exclude time periods from being used in data collection. I would exclude the dates your similar audiences were active and it should help bring your conversions back to normal. I think it’s called “data exclusion” somewhere in the settings. I use it frequently when conversion tracking breaks down briefly and I want to minimize the effect on my campaigns.
