    Hi all,

What is the best way to gain quality backlinks, and improve off-page optimization?

We’ve been working on SEO for our local, service based company (in manufacturing); we’ve updated our website, changed all title tags and meta descriptions, we’ve done keyword research to create content like blogs, and much more. We are not sure how to gain quality backlinks though.

Currently, we are using HARO, and Wikipedia (although, we haven’t had our luck with Wikipedia because our links get removed). We are working on local backlinks, because we are a local business – but would love higher quality backlinks from national websites because we’re looking to expand nationally next year.

Should we resort to a company to do backlinking for us? What have you guys done to gain backlinks?

    1. Start with your local citation building. Manually build the social media and major directory business profiles, but then just pay someone to do all the random tiny ones in your niche.
    2. Add a “best of <city>” google news alert for your city. Whenever you see a local paper, magazine, website, doing a BEST OF article, make sure you compete. These backlinks are usually pretty strong.
    3. Join the chamber of commerce. Usually, cities have several like the regular one, then the Spanish one, creole one, etc. These can be strong but usually just average links. It can be a good networking opportunity.
