How to estimate the budget needed for a campaign?

Posted by twisted-oddity on March 10, 2023 at 3:10 am

I work at an agency and have been asked to estimate the budget needed for a 6 month Google Ads search campaign for a new client. We don’t have access to their Google Ads account yet, so all I have to work with is the website URL and a list of keywords based on my keyword research.

Is there a way to use the data available through Google Keyword Planner to math out a potential budget range based on avg. monthly volumes? The goal would be traffic.

I know there are many other factors that should go into a formal budget plan, but I just need to come up with a relatively logical ballpark figure to help segment out the media budget with limited inputs.

Any step-by-step equations/examples would be greatly appreciated!

You use the keyword planner for ideas, save it, and pass them to the forecast planner, pick your geos, max CPCs, and Google will give you a budget
