  • How to do sponsorships?

Where do I learn about doing sponsorships and working with brands? I have researched so much and I still feel so lost. Are there any like social media managers where I can do like a one sesh consultation or something? And ask questions? For example, I have close to 800k followers and a company just reached out to me to do a sponsor clip and they want to videocall tomorrow (haven’t replied yet) but like I’m lowkey scared. I have no idea what to expect, yeah I imagine my rates, they’ll tell me about their company, their different brands and what they are looking for but I have never done a sponsorship before and I’m a faceless content creator (animator) and I’d rather discuss everything thru email. What should I do? What should I tell them? Where can I learn from someone about this stuff? Most of my reels receive minium 1M views.

Take a breath. The company will hopefully come prepared with what they are asking for. Make them talk for most of the meeting. Don’t agree to anything during the call. Instead, ask for everything in writing via email as a follow up and set a second meeting time or align on response via email for the next connection.

The most successful sponsorships are the ones that are true to your brand. Don’t compromise what you are doing to fit a sponsorship in. Always stay authentic to your brand first, because that’s what your followers and engagement are reacting to.

Again, let them do 95% of the talking. They are interested in you. So, you don’t need to sell yourself. They need to sell you on them. It’s your decision if it’s right for you to work with them. The only power they have is money. You have what they really want, impressions, engagement, etc.

u/Fondeezy gives great advice, follow it!!

Simplest advice I can give, in anything in life:

When some approaches you, THEY have to sell you, not the other way around. Listen, take it in. When they ask you something, keep reminding yourself they approached you. And that answer is fine to give. “I haven’t given any thought to that yet, you approached me, so I am just listening to what you have to say and offer. I’ll think it over and follow up with you”

Get ready with a nicely organized intro about your channel, focused on your content and your demographic. Then think about ways you can help brands integrate their visuals and presence. Then get creative. Think in their shoes, why would they want to spend their budget on your channels compared to your competitors?

I am a social media manager for a world famous IP with nearly 10m followers across platforms. Hopefully my experience can help you with brand activation.
