  • How my experience with Facebook has gone from ‘fun’ to ‘monotonous’

I have always enjoyed using Facebook as a platform to connect with other people and interact with them. However, ever since Facebook started forcefully showing me suggested posts I have lost interest in this platform. Add to that some of the ridiculous community guidelines, the influx of scammers, and the platform as a whole is no longer as attractive or fun as it used to be.

What I find strange is that scammers are able to create multiple fake accounts using profile pictures of pornstars that they downloaded from the internet, and despite reporting these profiles; nothing ever happens. It is as almost as if, Facebook turns a blind eye to them.

I already closed my Instagram account, because of the suggested post and irrelevant content, and as much as I want to close my Facebook account, the problem is that there are a lot of people who do not use anything else but Facebook.

I think Facebook is creating a community where it decides what is ethical and what is not, and a society where people have only two choices. Comply with the rules or leave the platform.

Tracking is another concern, I downloaded all my data from Facebook and was shocked to find out how much information it had obtained off the platform when I was browsing other websites, I felt like my privacy had been invaded, and I felt betrayed…

Personally, I still have a Facebook account, however, I no longer create stories or post on the platform. I have uninstalled the application from my phone and now use this platform as a mere messaging tool like Whatsapp, SMS, Telegram, and others.

Facebook used to be about friendships. Now, it is only about random folks on the Internet who hate each other.

I used to find Facebook great, but as the same as you, I started not enjoying it because of censoring and recommended posts. I do find messenger good because it’s the easiest way to contact family.

True that! It’s been 4 years I haven’t actively used FB! Insta is my go-to social media platform!

Something is definitely going on with Facebook lately. Their recommendation engine seems to have gone off the rails…

I locked myself out of my account by deleting the phone with the 2 factor authenticator on it as well as my backup codes. Rip account from 2003.
I would actually like to have a look again but I can’t even delete it

The development of social media has undoubtedly changed the way we communicate and connect with others, but it is not always a positive experience. As social networks such as Facebook have grown in popularity, the focus has shifted from genuine connections to making a profit, often resulting in lower quality content and an increase in ads and irrelevant content. It is unfortunate to hear that this person’s Facebook experience has become monotonous, with suggested posts and scams diluting the original purpose of the platform. An even bigger problem, however, is the invasion of privacy. As we become increasingly dependent on social media, we share our personal data more and more, and it is essential that these platforms take responsibility for protecting our privacy.Social media platforms have the potential to bring people together and create a sense of community, but this cannot be achieved if they prioritize revenue over user needs. If Facebook wants to remain relevant today, it needs to focus on its core purpose of bringing people together and prioritize user privacy and security, because progressive alternatives like Solcial have already done that and are nipping at their heels.
