  • How much to charge big travel brand for promo posts on my 20k travel IG account?

Posted by seohelper on April 25, 2021 at 1:36 pm

So, as title said one big travel company ( google said estimate value is $5 billions) contacted me to promote them with 2 photo posts + 4 stories with swipe up link within 3 months.
I have 20k travel account related to certain country they’re targeting.
They asked me to send me my cost so they can check if I fit into their budget.
I’ve never been asked this so I’m clueless how much to charge especially some company that big. I don’t wanna sell it for peanuts although I don’t wanna overprice it and get refused.

One rule I’ve heard of is to start with $10.00 per 1,000 followers per post. Put together some sort of package deal based on that.

Most brands already have a set amount in mind they’re looking to pay before they even contact you. All they’re doing by asking for your rate is hoping that it’ll be less than that amount so they don’t have to pay as much.

Just be honest with them and say something like “I really haven’t done a ton of sponsored posts and your brand seems to be a great fit for my account so how much did you have in mind?”

The company’s estimated value has nothing to do with whether or not you can get more money from them. Some of the biggest companies are the cheapest. I had a huge yogurt company that wanted me to do some sponsored stuff for them once and acted like they were doing me a favor by sending me the yogurt for free (this was after they initially expected me to BUY the yogurt AND not get paid at all for the post). I obviously passed.

Literally slide into the DMs of other travel influencers and ask. Some humble ones should be happy to help and provide guidance. Or ask Samantha Ravandhal. She’s in makeup where the industry is worth over 90B but she’s transparent about helping people if you ask.

This isn’t really based off of how much the company is worth but how much you’re worth. Maybe do some research to see how much other Instagram’s charge in general?

Start at 5k for the 2 posts + stories, plus a few selects they can use on social only – it’s totally reasonably and even a bit on the low side IMO

Just choose a number you’re happy with. Get it done. Build confidence. Choose a bigger number next time. Get it done. Build confidence. Choose a bigger number next time, miss out on the job. Find out the market value.

Don’t try to get happiness by choosing the maximum amount someone else can pay its outside of your control and not a feasible life strategy. I know this comment is slightly off topic but I think it could be what’s hanging you up. I feel like with this shift you’d change to being stoked a large company wants to promote on your account, and has recognised what your built.
