How much do you guys charge for creating additional campaigns?

Posted by HawgBandit on August 4, 2023 at 11:39 am

I have a client who is always interested in creating new camapigns whether it be for new geographical areas or because of new products. What is a fair price to charge for new campaign setups?

If they’re a client and already paying you then you create the campaigns? That’s under your scope

You should be charging a portion of advertising spend, which covers new campaigns. New fees are for new platform implementation. Why would you charge the client more for doing your job?

Some people do charge on a per campaign basis, but I always found it a silly way to build lasting relationships with clients. Flat retainer + performance based on KPIs or spend is the name of the game if you want client retention. Align the goals and achieve together.

We do time and materials but give an estimate of cost. Sometimes if very simple we just do it, but anything more than a few hours is scoped, approved, and billed.

I charge a xy + 10% of budget a month at that covers new campaigns. My logic is that you need more budget for new campaigns if you dont want to lose performance on the old ones so that normally boosts your fee per month

    1/3 of account setup usually.

If much work then 1/2 or even the original setup fee

If it’s on a new channel, we’ll charge a setup fee only. But it could increase their monthly retainer if it bumps their media spend above a certain threshold

$0 if they’re already a client and I’m already managing that platform for them. Granted it needs to be a strategy I agree with, not just them sending me requests all day to build new campaigns.

This is a typical thing that should be included in normal account management for a client

It horrifies me how many people here say they have clients and then don’t know basic stuff like this.

I just include it in normal account management. If the client gets too crazy about requests, you can always talk with them.

Some months I have more operative work than others, it is normal.

I would never piecemeal work in this way, ever.

Fixed retainer – defined scope. No hourly, no per-x charges, no % of spend, just do what is conventionally required for successful campaigns as needed and max out the ROAS and nobody will ask you for this kind of administrative nightmare accounting.

0, it’s part of the basic account management.
