I have just created a new snapchat account using my phone number, and when the screen for quick add pops up at the end of the account creation, there are people listed that i know, even when I have never used snapchat before. How can this be possible if i never even used the app before or never created an account with that phone number? I also disabled location services while creating the account, and didn’t associate it with any other accounts like google Facebook etc. My theory is that snapchat has a database with profiles that have the same area code as I’m in, or that the person who previously had my phone number made an account with snap and had connections with those people(highly unlikely right?). Can someone please explain how all this works technically and what a user can do to protect their privacy?
