How do you make money through SEO?
Can someone in BASIC terms explain to me how an absolute newbie can make money via SEO? Does a person learn SEO skills and then approach a company and works for them? I’m trying to understand the very basic concept of how you make money using it?
Is it something you learn and apply by looking for jobs?

Selling a service or product.
Generating ad revenue from all the website traffic.
Affiliate marketing where you refer your visitors to products you get a kickback for.
Doing SEO for someone else who wants to do any of the above.

You have to choose if you wanna be an employee, employer, or a freelancer. I recommend freelancing until you have more than enough work then start hiring people when you can. Freelancing will also give you experience. You should start a website.

I think the best way to break into the SEO game is to create a few niche websites that you can rank for low tail keywords. Prove that you can rank a website. You might also want to learn WordPress or some other website builder. That way you can also offer to make the website and do the SEO. Doing SEO will require you some web dev skills. It would also be a good idea to create a website that has information about yourself and your skills.
