  • How do you guys use H1 in your text?

I remember reading somewhere in a tutorial when learning SEO, that an H1 heading containing the primary keyword “should” be in the text somewhere. I’m not talking of the Title.

What I don’t get is using one H1 and then consistently H2, H3 and so one, does that not hurt the structure of blog post? I would understand if every top level heading would be H1 which would give consistency to the blog post structure but using one H1 and then none of it in the whole writeUp … what am I missing?

Not sure where you heard this, but using a bunch of H1 tags in text will likely look spammy to search engines. Just do what makes sense. Use H1 for the main title and H2s for subtitles, and do your best to include important keywords in those titles. Then add additional keywords in the text as appropriate.

There is no difference between the H1 and the title. Your title should always be formatted as H1, no exceptions, and it should be the ONLY H1 in the text.

You may have misunderstood whatever you read, in that you should certainly use your main keyword in the H1, plus I a few other spots across the body text in paragraphs.

I’m not sure what you are creating your website with, but you can make your titles have heading tags or not. Focus on putting some keywords in those titles (h1 or h2), and the rest should be in the text, and in title tag, Meta descriptions, image descriptions, etc.

OP has a query that his WordPress post section where he writes, already has a title section. So, as per my understanding, a blog should only have one main heading and rest subheadings. That heading is the title and i think H1 refers to that very title. You don’t need to put another H1 in that post. That title section works as a H1 tag.

H1: Use once per page as the main title. It should summarize the page’s content and include your main keyword.
H2: Use for main section headings. These break up your content into its primary topics.
H3: Use for sub-sections under H2s. They further break down the topics introduced by the H2s.
Always maintain a logical hierarchy: H1 -> H2 -> H3. Avoid skipping levels (e.g., H1 directly to H3). This structure helps both users and search engines understand and navigate your content effectively.
