How do you guys structure FB Advantage+ campaigns?

Posted by dd_hambos on April 14, 2023 at 7:17 am

I have one advantage+ campaign (500e/day) consisting of 5 video ads (1:1) with shopping catalog, separated by topics (we’re selling home fragrance, thus one topic would be something like “anti-tobacco ideas” other topic would be “freshen your clothes and fabrics” etc…

While in the beginning all the ads shared the budget \~equally and all of them generated decent sales, it’s been a week where all the weight fell into just one ad.

It’s still profitable but the issue is that this specific ad shows only a portion of the catalog, thus we had sales only for these products, to a point where we sold out instantly while the rest of the catalog was intact. The winning ad was spending 450e/day while the rest shared the remaining 50e.

\*The advantage+ doesn’t support multiple ad sets per campaign.

So yeah, we don’t want to sell only a part of the catalog. And I’m worried if the campaign data was screwed because of this.

How can I approach this? Should I create multiple advantage+ campaigns, sharing same products, but separated by topic?

ASC is still so new that there really isnt a “best practise” set yet. Everyone is figuring out as we go. Some separate videos in one ASC, Statics in one etc. Some just pull out DPA in its own ASC. All have their own sucess stories to tell afterwards, or fails.

The best I can say, try different methods to see what works for you. And be prepared to change strategy in a month or two. Whats working today may change quick.

Personally I don´t put DPA in the same campaign as other creative assets since it steals all adspend no matter the results. Its just how the algo works since its retains a lot more data from the users (scrolling the feed).

Why not just have two different ad sets or campaigns to breakout what is sold it in. That way you can direct the budget as you see fit.

We tested ASC in an ad account recently. 11 ads, $2.5k /day. We let it ride for about 1 week. The performance wasn’t as good as our normal campaign structure.

There’s no reason to use ASC imo. Not sure it will improve performance. Maybe in some accounts it will.

We have been particularly using ASC for scaling campaigns

It is usually broken down by gross margin/AOV/Category of product. First, the creative is tested using normal conversion campaigns and then winners are moved into ASC.

I don’t recommend splitting by type of creative like video/image as financials don’t add up well. You might be well below CPA for one category while for the other category, you might be at loss.

Best to split so you know the target metrics for that campaign

Facebook advantage… is that an oxymoron?
