How Do I Make A ViewContent Event Differentiate Between Buttons On A Landing Page?

Posted by seohelper on November 11, 2020 at 8:38 pm

This conversation came up with a friend today, I have a landing page (Specifically this one: https://fanlink.to/dVsg ) and while it already has pre-set up a pageview and viewcontent events, I can not enter the actual code of the landing page.

This led me to wonder if I could set this up with the ViewContent event in my pixel. Specifically I want to be able to target people who target spotify vs one of the bands webstores. However – it seems you can no longer edit the pixel on FB anymore.

How does one set up their pixel so that it can differentiate between buttons and then build separate audiences? I am relatively new at this so any feedback would be much appreciated.

How did you implement the Pixel in the first place? If you are using a tag manager like GTM, it is quite easy to implement logic on any click, so that it:

    * Either passes back additional parameters on the standard event for ViewContent, which means you can build out FB Custom Conversions in Ads Manager to report / bid on it
    * Or create Custom Events if you don’t want to mess with the Standard Event
