How do I know if my Google Ads are performing better than the market standard for my industry, or even my competitors?

Is there somewhere I can view what the general standard is in terms of cost per conversion/lead, CTR, etc? Or even someway of knowing how I am performing against my competitors?

I am a home improvement company in the UK.

Certainly not for any conversion data. That’s dependent on each situation, and “proprietary” in regards to each specific business. If Google was giving away that kind of information, the lawsuits would be in the hundreds of billions of dollars…

Impression share, and auction insights are the best tools to gauge your potential market share. Even then your targeting settings affect those numbers. There are so many variables that go into potential market share, there is no practical industry “standard”.

What is the goal of that information? Budgeting, business valuation, etc.?

My clients ask me this every month. It’s an ego thing. Vanity metric.

The only thing that matters is:

    1. You revenue is higher than your cost of product + ads spend.
    2. You improve your current standard, incrementally, day by day, week by week, month by month, year by year.
