I created a megamenu using elementskit for my WordPress website and it scores terrible with unused javascript.

Has anyone created a megamenu on WordPress with minimal impact to Google Pagespeed? If so how/what did you use?

It’s really hard to measure the impact of this. Google mentions pagespeed to be more of a “tie breaker”. I would argue if the usability is better for the user.. go that route, G will see this in the data they collect. Imho.

You build it yourself? Create child theme. Edit header. Dump mega menu. Or hire someone to do it. Shouldn’t take longer then 2-3 hours tops

To measure if the mega menu has a negative impact on page speed, you need to do A/B testing:

Create 2 identical pages, with one including the mega menu and the other not. Measure the page speed via Lighthouse on Chrome Developer Tools. If there is no notable difference between 2 pages, then this means everything is fine.

If you are not into coding, there are several plugins for mega menu which you can give a try.
