This just doesn’t make sense. At minimum, impressions should be equal. What am I missing?

Impressions are from your followers but reach includes other factors like shares, location etc

Impressions are every individual amount of time your content has been shown to someone.

Your reach is every single individual that has seen your content.

    Impressions will always be higher.

You’ve got it backwards. Impressions are always higher.

Reach=the number of people who have seen your content.

Impressions=the number of times people have been shown your content.

So if 1000 people were shown your posts one time each and 250 people were shown your posts 2 times each, your reach would be 1250 and your impressions would be 1500.

Like Facebook, Instagram determines reach as the unique number of accounts that have viewed your story or post, and impressions show the number of times an Instagram story or post has been viewed.

If you have your Instagram creator account or business profile, you can access these metrics by clicking “View info” under an Instagram post or by swiping up the story whose performance you want to see.

The Business profile doesn’t provide detailed information about reach and impressions as a creator profile, but you get a general idea about reach and impressions.

If you are getting good reach, that means you are getting a number of followers on your Instagram page, and your page is getting quality traffic but impressions should be higher. Reach also include other factors such as shares, location etc.
