I work for a gov’t program that has to report on our data monthly for our Facebook page (among other things), and we have had some inconsistencies in the past few years with exactly where numbers have been pulled from. I just started recently and I am trying to get a handle on how exactly we find the data we report on so I can write up an SOP on how I find what we need on our various platforms. I am still new to the analytics world, so any advice would be helpful, because unfortunately, Meta doesn’t seem to have customer service at all. I have figured out the Meta Ads Manager for our paid traffic, but I’m having some difficulty getting what I need from the Insights section of the business manager.

Business Suite has just changed so worth having a look over the new guide. But, your data for IG/FB should come up under insights and should split out the paid/ads, as long as the ads are being run from your account. Unfortunately, if another firm is running ads on your behalf it seems to be a little tricky and will tell you there’s no paid, even when there is.

Other options for IG include checking on the IG app and going to account settings/insights – you’ll see what percentage of people you reached via paid.
