Headlines with line breaks | as opposed to dash –

Anyone explain how you can remove the dash between headlines with line breaks. I’ve been seeing this in Google Ads

    headline one | headline two

    As opposed to

    headline one – headline two

The “|” symbol is the default divider for search ads headlines. When you see a “-” symbol that’s usually part of the headline copy, i.e. included by the advertiser. Google might use that periodically as well, e.g. when they run a single long headline that’s auto generated.

Bottom line you cannot remove the “|” symbol in most scenarios.

Google Ads uses the pipe symbol (|) to separate headlines with line breaks. To achieve this, simply replace the dash (-) with a pipe (|) in your ad copy. This will help you create a cleaner, more readable ad format.
