Have you ever advertised for a video production company?

Posted by VMSstudio on March 20, 2023 at 6:42 pm

Or animation/motion graphics studio. I’m honestly struggling to find any relevant resources to properly target our ads and would love to hear your thoughts or, even better, past experience with this.

What budget, conversion rate, etc would you realistically expect for this kind of a business. I feel like video production isn’t a service that people will just purchase immediately upon landing on your page.

It’s definitely a niche area that probably has pretty low search demand, so that would affect what type of keywords/match types you could do. You could try to create some audiences (either with your own data or using Google’s) to help qualify the searchers you serve to, but that may end up hurting more than it helps if volume is low.

For low-volume accounts, I like to focus on impression share on the key terms that we’re targeting. There’s not much we can do to generate non-brand searches in a niche industry, so it’s a better use of time/money/energy to making sure your company is the active when those terms are searched, especially low funnel ones.

You should also operate with a B2B mindset of a long sales cycle. Like you said, it’s unlikely that people will employ your services the first time they see you. So make sure you are utilizing remarketing and competitive bidding if you have the budget.

You’re really not giving enough information for us to give a proper answer, some questions are also unanswerable.

First, is this video production for Hollywood or are you talking for weddings? Maybe you do those info videos. So need to know more.

Next is, what is the geographical target? Your home town, state, country? That will determine the reach and therefore how many search for this and thus what kind of budget you should have. I always say you want to reach 100% of the people who search. It just then becomes a calculation of the CPC and the CTR you’re getting. All this will depend on your ad and how much you’re bidding. So too many variables. Your conversion rate depends on how well your landing page will convert. And if visitors buy months later, it will take that long to figure things out.
