Google Local Services Ads stopped performing

Posted by its_figureoutable on August 2, 2023 at 3:17 pm

Hi there! I run marketing for a nationwide company but we recently opened up a local service provider sub-company to test out a different model. I started with LSAs, and the first 2 months went great! Good leads, high conversion, average cost per lead. We raised the budget to see if that would grow it more, and things ground to an almost halt.

Does anyone else have experience with these ads? Seeing the same thing?

Hi, sometimes the sudden drop can be because the account has been penalized by Google. Any bad reviews or increase in missed calls around that time?

I found this video that details some of these things with performance drops!

Google probably caught on to your “strategy”. Do you have a verified physical location for all the cities you are targeting? If not, that’s probably what is hurting you. It’s called Local Services for a reason and if your verified GBP is not close in proximity to a zip code you are targeting you are unlikely to have much success. Sounds like Google has caught onto you and I highly doubt there is a way to get back to where you were in terms of leads.
