  • Google changing our page Titles on SERP?

Posted by seohelper on June 4, 2021 at 3:21 pm

It seems that Google has appended the word ” – Circuit Breaker” onto all of our search results.

If you search “site:buymybreaker.com” you will see.

Is there any way to remedy this? We do dynamically create all of our titles, but after reviewing the project, we are unable to find anywhere in our code that we may have mistakenly done this.

The few pages I checked on google (cached versions) were all from last month.. Was it a test someone was running while the site happened to be getting crawled?

Changing the title in the SERPs is something Google does. Most know by now, that they change the meta description, but it can also happen with the titles.

But adding the same to every URL sounds like a problem on your side. It seems like you have overlooked something.

Google changes page titles all the time – depending on the keyword that the user typed to get to your site.

Not a big issue in my book

I see this on my site all the time where Google amends “brandname.com” to our title tags. Not much you can do about it although it’s a bit annoying.

That’s a default setting (adding your site’s name to every page title) in Yoast, I don’t suppose you use that for your SEO? You can also edit SERP titles in a post/page with Yoast, the SEO settings are usually near the bottom of the post/page

Google has done this for years. They only show what you wrote in titles and meta description for 60% of searches.

There’s always points to the Google found the title they provided to better represent the page you need to look and see why your title didn’t work out. What was the title and what a Google change it to?

Hey, I’ve been noticing this for some of my clients. I don’t know what it’s about, but it’s really frustrating.

I’ve seen Google change title tags on SERPs in the past but they usually change them for the better and you can usually read it and say, “yeah, that makes sense.” But these updates are not helpful in any way and usually don’t make any sense.

As far as I know, there’s nothing you can do to just outright change this. You’ll have to look for something on-page that may be causing some confusion for Google. For example, Google my actually think that your brand name is quite literally “Circuit Breaker” and that’s why they’re tacking it on at the end of the titles. Try to look at your site from a bots perspective to see if you can find anything that might be unclear.

Google does this when it fits the searcher better. They also will change the description. Looks like you’re not serving up a good title.
