Google Ads – negative keyword for all queries containing a single keyword?

Posted by seohelper on October 1, 2021 at 11:00 am

    Hi

Not sure if this is possible, but I’d like to not show ads whenever a certain keyword is present in the search query. I understand this is possible for exact match negative keywords, but is it possible to add one negative keyword and exclude all variations of search queries that contain that keyword? If possible, I’d like to apply that account-wide.

    Thanks in advance

Not sure why you would want to do that, but I think you just gave the answer yourself: just use exact match negative keywords.

As you mentioned, you won’t exclude all the variations in first instance, but then you just look at all your search terms, and exclude with exact match all the single keyword search terms.

After a number of iterations you should get pretty close to have excluded all single keywords.

you just have to exclude jobs (and job) in broad match (not in exact nor phrase match), any queries containing jobs (or job) won’t trigger your ads

you can put these two negative keywords into a list and apply them to all your campaigns

As another poster said you just need to use broad match negative keywords. They function like BMM regular keywords as far as match types go.

Negative broad match: job, jobs, salary, resume, stuff like that and you should be good
