Google Ads – Just Remove Old Ads That Has Policy Issues

Posted by SpiderLeadership on July 17, 2023 at 12:40 pm

I just got email from google ads that said I had Extensions (12) impacted by Google Ads policy.

When I looked what campaigns, ad groups, ads and assets had these policy violations, they were all from some old ad campaign/website I had already ***paused*** three years ago as unnecessary. I guess the godaddy domain for that website has finally expired.

Is is okay just to remove these old ad campaigns and ads, to deal with the policy issues like url destination not working? Does that remove them from policy center and does not the performance of the current ads. Or should you appeal/accept them somehow differently? Those campaigns seems to have been Paused, not Removed before.

just pause the ads, that should be enough and in case of emergency you can activate them again 🙂

There’s no impact to having disapproved ads that are paused. It drives me nuts that they send these emails. They should only send them for live ads.

Yes, the policy manager has some flaws. It’ll routinely flag assets that have been paused for years, even old ETAs which you couldn’t edit if you wanted to.

I hate deleting anything in an account because it still may be useful as a reference. But that’s what we do at my agency to clear out bogus policy violations.

If it’s anything that is only temporarily paused we’ll try to fix it.
