Getting into PPC with a computer science degree

Posted by Vallren on April 23, 2024 at 6:51 pm

After graduating uni with a compsci degree I've been looking for work and seen a position for a trainee PPC executive, I have a basic understanding of what PPC is but would my degree have any relevance or transferable skills?

Absolutely, and arguably even more so the direction PPC has gone and continues to go.

Automation, algorithms and technical integrations continue to be more and more important.

If you get the chance once you start to understand PPC I would start to focus on:
    – tracking and integrations
    – events and goals within GA4
    – looker studio and automated reporting
    – automated bid rules and general automation

Yes! Check out the Google Ads API. You’ll likely be the only one who knows how to use it.
For example, a script that pauses keyword with a ROAS under 1 that spends over x across y months.

All good recommendations on here. I would add: learn Google Tag Manager. The basics are easy enough but your expertise should make you a Jedi with [the data layer](https://developers.google.com/tag-platform/tag-manager/datalayer#gtag.js).
