Absolutely I wouldn’t do this if you’re thinking of getting a local google business profile. The problem is that if you tie a local address to your business, then google may start thinking that you’re local, and will only rank your site for people who are in your local area.
Let’s say you’re a realtor. Google might rank you for “realtors”, a keyword without the city name in the search query. But only people in your local area would see your site in the serps because of that local customization.
So I get what Kyle is saying, you want to be seen as a real business by google or if someone looks at your contact page. However, if you go this route, I would go with a virtual office or UPS store type address and not your home address. Better if you can set up an LLC or other biz classification using that address.
