FB is desperate
Facebook keeps losing audience. If recent years it was mainly old men’s playground, now oldmen losing interest in it too. I don’t think there’s any chance for FB to survive. Now they started showing stories in timeline which is very annoying, it feels like they force you to see stories and the worst part of it, they show you the stories of people you’ve unfollowed long ago. It’s disgusting. They try to trigger new engagement with the people you’ve unfollowed. FB become a piece of shit full of cheap, scam ads and outdated content. I deleted it couple years ago and recently activated for marketplace.FB is doomed.

I don’t know, there was just now a news story about Facebook hitting 2 billion daily users. So I definitely see them surviving for the forseeable future. Is it shit? Well sure, but that’s beside the point. Lots of folks are still there, and so we still need to be using it as a marketing platform.

I manage a brand with a following in the millions and it (along with Instagram) is our most important channel, so your results may vary.
I haven’t used Facebook in a personal capacity for many years because I loathe it, but what many fail to understand is that just because I hate something, it doesn’t mean the rest of the world does.

I mean… it is far and away the most popular social media platform. They could lose 20% of their audience and they’d still be an easy 1st place. So something must be working for them.

Whether Facebook is a scam and whether it’s doing well are two very different things. As of last year, I would have said they and Instagram might well go away because of crappy app and outdated functionality. They have done a full 180 tho in the past year. Both apps and Whatsapp are booming. Meta earnings are extremely strong with $5B in profit last quarter in spite of $10B in spending on virtual reality this year. TikTok growth is flat for the first time since they’ve launched mainly due to instagram getting their shit together and people piling into Reels both on Instagram and Facebook. The core Facebook experience has changed dramatically eith people using it mainly for Marketplace and for groups. But the stock and I disagree strongly.
