FB – Are video views lookalikes worth it?

Posted by seohelper on May 6, 2021 at 9:24 pm

So far, I only got a sample of $200 so my results may not represent the reality, but from what I’ve seen it seems like the link clicks I get from this campaign are low-quality. Has anyone had any success with it or are LLAs only worth it for purchases? Thanks!

I would say like anything test. I have had success with 75% VV lookalikes. In theory, these should be people who are least more interested than average with what you are offering. I would say it also probably depends to some extent on how you got those video views. Was it from a prospecting campaign running a conversion objective (means video views are from people who FB considers likely to purchase) or was it from an engagement campaign (likely tire kickers). If your seed audience is bad your lookalike is probably going to be bad.

Another thing to keep in mind is that ML (machine learning) is really error prone on small data sets, so if you your video view data set is small that’s a problem and if the number of impressions is small for your look alikes that could also be a problem. This is likely one of the reason people find more success with FB with large budgets. I personally take a more hands on approach with smaller budget because I don’t really believe the hype about the “algorithm” particularly when it comes to small budgets. I would expect inconsistent results.

Obviously there are other concerns as well, did the people who saw the initial video convert, etc. It may be that you have a video that gets good engagement but not drawing in the right people.
