    Hey everyone!

Been in social media professionally for the better part of 7 years. Not a stranger to it, as I have been working in the CPG/Auto space for that time.

However recently, I’ve switched to public health, and while it’s a massive change, it’s something I’ve grown accustomed to (I think) and have made the necessary changes in the way I approach it. However, I’m having a huge issue.

For the agency I work with, our client is big in public health awareness (violence prevention specifically), and a lot of our content is generally promoted to people who already follow our page from the past, and when we target outside of the follower base, it’s as refined as much as possible (lots of base interests and must also match interests), yet somehow, a lot of crazies and QAnon people have found our anti-child abuse campaigns and left comments. I go through this to ask, do we think Facebook is expanding my targeting “without my consent?” I’m rushing in typing this, so I can answer any strange questions, but I’m getting the feeling that Facebook is treating us like a business that is wanting to sell something, so lookalikes and satellite audiences are being presented with our material, when we don’t want them to be.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you!

It could be that those crazies are being targeted by FB ads because maybe they ended up visiting groups or pages that are associated with the same niche as yours.
