Facebook ads duplicating but *not* bringing the brilliant comments and love into the new ad set

Posted by seohelper on January 17, 2021 at 5:33 am

    What am I doing wrong?

I’ve tried two different options to try and duplicate the ad AND all the love:

1- straight up duplication (no dice)
2- using the ad ID from the original ad (doesn’t find it)

    Would love your help

    Thanks!

If you duplicate it creates and entirely new ad. Instead, duplicate the campaign and pull in the post ID to keep the engagement.

The post ID can be pulled from the URL of the ad. Its the last number combination within it.

It sounds like you’ve already tried the method u/hausman113 mentioned.

I’ve tried numerous methods to duplicate engagement and haven’t succeeded.

This post [https://www.reddit.com/r/PPC/comments/kqjcto/duplicating_ads_and_tracking_and_engagement/](https://www.reddit.com/r/PPC/comments/kqjcto/duplicating_ads_and_tracking_and_engagement/) from 12 days ago leads me to believe that it won’t allow you to copy engagement if there are multiple placement selected, multiple headlines, text options, etc, or perhaps something to do with UTM tracking.

If you figure it out please let us know!

hey man haha i made this same noob mistake. you need to copy the POST ID. that is the ####### at the end of the URL on your post. not the Ad ID from the top right button in ads manager.

they are 2 different things. you give FB support your AD ID for problems and ticket related stuff. you use your EXISTING POST ID which is the end of the url, NOT the “copy ad ID” button!!!
