  • Facebook Ads account disabled after years of use and millions in spend. What are our options?

Posted by Number8 on September 22, 2022 at 9:53 pm

We are a D2C eCommerce brand which relies heavily on Facebook for our digital marketing activities. We have been running ads on the Meta platform for years and have spent millions. Today, we got a notification letting us know that our ads account has been disabled. We requested a review and the decision was deemed permanent. We have not received any feedback or reasoning as to why this has happened.

    **What are our options?**

Are we able to create a new ads account, connect it to our page and resume advertising? Apparently doing so also violates Meta’s Tos. I do not want to risk our sizeable organic assets which are so far unaffected (\*knock on wood\*).

We would migrate entirely to other platforms if we could replicate our performance and environment.

Has anybody experienced this before and come out the other side?

    Thanks very much everybody!

I saw some discussions about this on twitter, apparently happened to a lot of accounts lately! They might be helpful!

This happened to a lot of people we work with as well, I wish I could offer you some advice right now but this seems to be an issue with Meta itself. Hope you find a way around this man I know it sucks to lose something you’ve been relying on for a long time. When it comes to migrating to other platforms, Google Ads usually work out better for my clients since there’s already buyer intent on google but it depends on what kind of product you’re selling.

Have you tried chatting with a Facebook representative in the business manager help page? What did they say?

This is honestly not nice, one businesses really matter no matter how small. Facebook could notify you guys already prior to this ban but no they decided to do it on their own will, funny enough no matter how many times you write them, they wont even reply you.

This is one of those reasons businesses are opting out of this centralized platforms, some are already making good use of web3 platforms – platforms like **solcial**. is already doing justice to this kind of treatment.

There is only one option, to forget about centralized social networks. And go to web3, social networks that are built on blockchain, have great security and decentralization. Solcial itself is currently being developed. The mainnet is coming soon.

Same thing happened to us yesterday morning. We were just running the same old types of ads, with no rejections. DTC E-commerce of non-controversial retail goods that are our own brand, so no copyright issues etc.

Our ad rep told us to submit for appeal since he couldn’t find any reasons why we’d be flagged (which I did against my better judgment, but he told me it would be OK), which was rejected within minutes and now we are permanently disabled. Due to this flag FB email and chat support basically won’t talk to me. The level of service is pretty appalling for what we all spend. If I was spending this much with an agency or other company I’d expect someone to actually help resolve the issue. It seems unlikely, even if this is some kind of bug, that “Meta” will own up to it and reinstate the accounts unfortunately.

Instead of jumping to make a new account, I’ve shifted budgets elsewhere for now to platforms that actually deserve our ad spend.

My ads account was randomly re-instated tonight at 5:30pm PST. Wouldn’t be surprised if Meta pushed some kind of fix at EOD cause that’s kind of their MO. Hoping that’s the case for y’all!

Unfortunately, the trend of web2 social networks like Facebook is very frustrating. I was very upset that Facebook one day deleted my account and I had to create a new one. So I still now also can not connect ads. I think that in this case it is necessary to switch to web3 social networks … To be honest, I’m already very tired of the constant web2 restrictions. I’m now watching the Solcial social network, let’s see what comes of it)
