Most PBNs are based on expired domains. To me, a “regular PBN” contains a lot of PBNs.

In the past, they were very effective.

Nowadays some people still make it work. But it is more difficult than in the past.

Since Google recently updated their spam guidelines on abusing expired domains, now might not be the best time to get into the topic without experience.

I’m not completely sure I get what you’re asking. Are you talking about bringing back the whole old network? If you are, and if you can find the whole network in expired domains, it’s not really private, and Google probably knows more about it than you do. If you mean making a new network from expired domains, it used to work well. Well, at least it did before the March update, but I haven’t tried it since then.

It’s the most effective way to do SEO. Unless you don’t do it correctly.

If you listen to Grumpy SEO Guy episodes 3-5 I walk you through the steps of how to do it.

Most PBNs are made from expired domains. Because the remaining choice is to start with new domains and build up their authority, which costs money and time.

So you either pay more for domains that have authority, or you pay less for domains that don’t have authority and then use money to get authority.

Do you want domains with authority now, or do you want domains with authority in 20 months?
