  • Experiencing a sudden drop in Instagram engagement. How do you deal with it?

I recently collaborated on a reel with another Instagram account. Despite our combined follower count of 3K, the reel barely got any likes. Even a repost by my skateboard sponsor (20K followers) didn’t help. No matter what I do to increase engagement, nothing seems to work.

How do you cope with such situations?

Make sure you’re offering your audience something always, such as a giveaway or part 2 of a video. Look at your analytics, it’ll make differences and interactions much clearer

Experiencing a sudden drop in Instagram engagement can be disheartening, but there are several steps you can take to address the issue and improve your engagement:

Analyze your content: Review your recent posts and identify any patterns or changes that may have contributed to the drop in engagement. Consider factors such as the type of content, captions, hashtags, and timing of your posts. Identify what worked well in the past and try to replicate it.

Quality over quantity: Focus on creating high-quality content that resonates with your audience. Ensure that your posts are visually appealing, well-captioned, and provide value to your followers. Engaging content is more likely to receive likes, comments, and shares.

Engage with your audience: Take the time to respond to comments, engage in conversations, and build relationships with your followers. Show genuine interest in their content by liking and commenting on their posts. This interaction can encourage them to reciprocate and engage with your content.

Use relevant hashtags: Research and include relevant hashtags in your posts to increase their discoverability. Avoid using overly popular or generic hashtags that may result in your content getting lost among the vast number of posts. Instead, focus on using a mix of specific and niche hashtags that are relevant to your content and target audience.

Post consistently and at optimal times: Establish a consistent posting schedule to keep your audience engaged and informed. Use Instagram Insights or third-party tools to determine the times when your audience is most active and schedule your posts accordingly.

Explore new features and formats: Instagram regularly introduces new features and formats, such as Instagram Reels, IGTV, or Stories. Experiment with these features to keep your content fresh and capture the attention of your audience. Different formats may attract new followers and boost engagement.

Collaborate with others: Collaborate with influencers, brands, or complementary accounts in your niche to cross-promote each other’s content. This can expose your account to a wider audience and potentially increase engagement.

Consider paid promotion: If you’re open to investing in your Instagram presence, consider running paid promotions or advertising campaigns to reach a broader audience and increase engagement. Instagram’s ad targeting options can help you reach users who are more likely to engage with your content.

Remember that building engagement takes time and consistency. Stay committed to creating valuable content, engaging with your audience, and adapting your strategy based on their feedback and preferences.
