Door Repair ads trigger locksmith and make my ads limited

Posted by GuavaMotor9588 on May 20, 2023 at 1:45 am

I am running a campaign for a door repair and replacement company who do not deal in lock replacement or locksmiths, hence they do not have a locksmith license. But my ads are not eligible and say that I need to provide a locksmith license. I am having difficulty understanding what exactly I need to change in my ads to comply with Google ad policies so that it does not trigger for locksmith service.

If you’re on search, go to your ads and click the small button under your ad which says “view asset details”. Once there you’ll be able to see which asset is the reason for the policy issues. Just edit or replace it and you should be fine.

Is there any mention of “locksmith” terms on the site or landing page?

I’ve been told by G support (fwiw) that if the terms are on the site at all, then ads will trip policy limitations or disapproval. Doesn’t matter if you’re not actually targeting keywords or have locksmith terms in ad copy. Just more G BS.

“Ads for garage door repairs are restricted in the US.”

This is normal for a lot of industries that fall under an umbrella restriction, painters get “restricted” for housing, same with door companies. Just need to continually check for disapproval and appeal. Google does NOT save any informtation that your account has been appealed in the past so the restrictions will continually come through as their wave checks come through. Usually every 2-3 months. Just a normal routine for agencies and businesses similar to restricted ones.

We deal with this in the cannabis industry for this selling commercial products and not the actual restricted items.
