  • Does sending traffic to the Home page help the ranking of landing pages?

Posted by seohelper on March 22, 2021 at 8:52 pm

I’ve heard that Google doesn’t rank domains; it ranks pages. Wondering how much truth there is to that.

I’m getting traffic to my Home page through Linkedin and I think some people are Googling my business name, and I’m wondering if it’ll help my other pages rank? For instance, my city landing pages. I guess no one has the absolute answer, but wondering what you guys think? I don’t really want to link a city landing page in my Linkedin profile.

Google does rank pages. But those pages are on domains and domains have trust, authority, etc.

If you increase the trust and brand-signals of your domain, it will help all individual pages.

Yeah that’s why it’s good to set the homepage to rank for your main category keyword. Any real traffic is valuable for your ranks across your domain.

Keep your home page for the term Web design, and create location pages based on areas you service or ideally have physical locations. Most keywords like Web design services will have an localised slant anyway and give users results close to their location whether they like it or not

    I think it does.

The more people visit (and like) your home page and its content, the more chances they will mention you on their own website or refer to your website in social media. This is how natural links grow.

    100% true.

    * You are getting traffic to my Home page because LI is a referrer, specifically, to your home page.

    * Traffic to home page does not *automatically* help rank other pages.

    * To specifically rank a landing page, you have to *explicitly* create content targeting search intent.
