  • Does putting each list item as a hyperlink hurt your chances of winning the featured snippet?

Posted by seohelper on October 14, 2020 at 4:11 pm

Let’s say I’m writing “The Top 10 Business Schools in California”

And each one is going to be an H2 header in my article.

And let’s assume the featured snippet is a bulleted list right now, so I could potentially win it with my article.

My question: If I make each H2 into a clickable hyperlink (pointing out to the school I mention), would that “confuse” google and hurt my chances of them turning my headers into a bulleted list for the snippet?

Just curious if anyone has knowledge or experience with this.

I don’t know that it will help you get a featured snippet but Google will likely see these links as valuable additional content and that should help your visibility.

We’ve found that lately, you can get featured snippets by doing a really good job at answering a common question. We’ve gotten quite a few doing this for clients.

In my experience, I would list the, “Top Choices” in h2. Then list, in bullet points, the top 10 business universities in cali pretty high on the post.

I’ve scored featured snippets quite a few times.. after throwing backlinks at it. Never without backlinks & quite a bit of patience.
