Do too many “phrase match close variants” mean it’s time to stop using maximize conversions?

The title pretty much sums up my question. What I’m seeing is that many of my search terms are now phrase-match close variants. I understand Google does this because they believe they can get more conversions with these terms, however, the queries just aren’t that great.

On the other hand, maximize conversions seems to be the gold standard for bidding, so I’m hesitant to leave it because many of the people saying that probably know a lot more than me.

With that said, what are your thoughts on ditching maximize conversions for maximize clicks with a TCPA?

I’m struggling a little with this same question.

In one of our ad accounts, we have max cv with a $107 tcpa.

I’m wondering if I should just remove the tcpa OR launch a new campaign for max clicks, the. Switch to max cvr once the campaign builds data.

I’m totally OK with paying $150 per lead, but I just think we can do better.

Do you have any thoughts op?

*not trying to Jack you thread. Just wondering your take since we seem to have a similar strategy.

Match type and bidding methods are two different worlds. Lots to unpack. What are you trying to do. How do you quantify something matching as “not that great”

Also re: on content creator – what is quality traffic if not someone who converts? Curious.
