    Conversions dropped to Zero

Posted by Affectionate-City-34 on March 20, 2023 at 12:37 pm

I am running PPC ads on Google. I started with one campaign containing two ad groups, and the first day was phenomenal with two excellent conversions. However, the second day saw zero conversions, and on the third day, I only got one conversion.

    1st day – 2 conversions
    2nd day – No conversions
    3rd day – 1 conversion
    4th day – No conversions
    5th day – No conversions

My budget was $35 per day for the entire campaign. My average click-through rate (CTR) was 17%, and I had good registration rates as well. Despite increasing impressions and clicks each day, conversions stopped. I had set my keywords on phrase match, but new keywords kept popping up as search terms every day. This led me to test one ad group with exact match keywords since I thought Google was sending me worthless clicks. However, because of this change, Google decided to send all the traffic to the second ad group to generate more clicks.

To measure the experiment well, I decided to create six different campaigns for the same two ad groups but separately for the three countries I am targeting.

What do you guys think, did I make mistake in creating these 6 campaigns, what do you think I should have done and what led to no conversions?

**An important thing to note:** I can not track conversions since I am running ads for the affiliate partner(If anyone has any ideas how I can track affiliate conversions I would be eternally grateful)

How many clicks were you looking at?

If you’re looking at $1/click, it’s 35 clicks a day, which is about 175 clicks in 5 days and you got 3 conversions out of it. That’s about 1.7% conversion rate, which can be great or terrible depending on your industry. Two more conversions in the next 25 clicks could bump your conversion rate to 2.5%.

It’s a number game today and not having conversion doesn’t sound alarming.

You have taken action too quickly – 5 days with $35/day doesn’t allow you to pilot and take decisions quick enough. You should roll back to what delivered your 3 conversions and let it sit for a while. 6 campaigns for a total of $35/day? That could also be killing your campaigns.

Bear in mind Google Ads isn’t magic unfortunately, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, you can’t win all the time. It could be that you can’t be profitable too. Hard to say with such little information and budget on your side.

If you can’t track conversions, it makes it much worse to pilot based on performance. Google Ads might not be the platform for you.
