Forum › White Hat SEO › Consequences of moving from www. to root domain and recommendations
So I put a new website live about a month ago. It seems that we put the website up on the root domain and not the http://www.where it was living before.
I have some understanding on SEO and subdomains (like www.), but what are the SEO consequences here? Should I consider switching it back?
As a broader question, are new websites better on the root or http://www.?
[www](http://www). is outdated relict, use root. Write redirect rules in htaccess for 301 redirect from www to non-www. THat’s all. And don’t forget to redirect index.php to root)
