  Can’t easily add/edit canonical tag, is it worth editing robot.txt??

  I’ve got an online marketplace, built on a third party software. I’ve asked them about canonical tags and they’ve basically said “no, too hard” the way the current software is built.

  So I get a lot of duplicates;

  https: /search/?category\_slug=test1-testa
  https: /search/popular/?category\_slug=test1-testa
  https: /search/ending-soon/?category\_slug=test1-testa

  If I just update my robot.txt file to “Disallow: /search/popular/” etc, will this have any negative effect?

  Why not just disallow all search results? You already have the category pages.
