  • Can you see if a page has been optimized for a specific keyword?

I know it’s easy to use SEM Rush or Ahrefs to see what keywords a page is actually ranking for, but I wanted to see if it was possible to get clues on what keywords the page was intended to be optimized for. The situation is that I was assigned a task to audit a website and their SEO person was fired quite a while ago. It’s hard to decipher if there was a target keyword in mind for most of these pages because they use a few different recurring keywords that could all be target keywords, or none of them could be.

I know this is probably not possible but I wanted to check.

Generally by looking at the TT and header tags you can get a good sense of the targeting, atleast topically. It’s possible the other SEO could have added meta keywords. Search the source code for “keyword” to find these

Grab the copy, put into ChatGPT and ask it to tell you what the focus KW is. Can’t promise that it’ll be correct but you might get some good insights

    Look at
    1. URL
    2. Title
    3. Meta description
    4. Keyword in subheadings and blogs

If in all of the 4 if you find a common keyword, it would more likely be the keyword they were focusing on.

But if the previous person didn’t understand SEO it would be very difficult to identify the focus keyword.
