Best way to A/B test 2 landing pages

Posted by TuttiFrutti111111 on February 24, 2023 at 4:08 pm

I’m going to run search ads for a new store and I would like to test 2 landing page variations to see which one performs better. I don’t expect to get enough sales in just a few days to get relevant data, so I was thinking to measure lower funnel metrics such as the average time spent on the page or the number of people who scrolled more than 50% of the page. I was thinking to let the first landing page run for a week and then then let the next one run for another week and compare the results at the end. Is this a good way to go about it? And would it be technically challenging to implement this for someone who just starts learning Google Analytics?

    Look into Google Optimize.

Specifically, look into ‘split url testing’ which I think would be relatively easy.

Run them simultaneously over a week to get actionable insight into which variation dominates; however, length could vary depending on website traffic. You’ll need some technical know-how to set up Google Analytics – thankfully, it’s all you need!

Would be easy to implement, but not worth doing if you have a low conversion volume like you said. (Unless you are able to wait forever for a result)

Instead of running the different landning pages one at a time I would set up two identical ads, except for the landing page. Then you would get data for the same time period. Make sure you dont have final URL on keyword level though.
